Anne Gros is young, talented and has embraced the latest techniques in the vineyard, the cellar and even the education department. She has a great website (www.anne-gros.com), but she has never let her ultra-modern approach interfere with the ultimate goal of producing first-rate wines that are true to their terroir. Anne inherited some great vineyards from the Gros family’s impressive holdings, but her wines will always be rare because so many members of the family make their own wines.

Those lucky enough to acquire some of her wines are in for a real treat because she is not only an excellent winemaker, but her vineyards are amongst the best of each appellation. Her Richebourg is always one of the top wines from this heralded Grand Cru. Her parcel of Clos Vougeot is below Grands Echezeaux in the area called Grands Maupertui by the Citeaux monks.

Her vineyard designated wines from Chambolle and Vosne are not officially premier cru, but given their location and her talent, they are certainly superior wines to many that carry more prestigious appellations. The Vosne “Barreaux” comes from a plot of century old vines sandwiched between Cros Parantoux and Richebourg. The “Combe de Orveau” vineyard in Chambolle is adjacent to the North side of Echezeaux and is very close to both Clos Vougeot and Musigny.
